Worth It

Worth It is my final project from the minor in writing gateway course, a remediation of my essay When You Say The Things You Cannot Say. I took the main points of that essay, and I developed it into a drawn narrative. For this specific assignment I was limited in my time, and so this was just the introduction for the longer narrative. It followed my story from when my parents discovered my visual work and their negative reaction, my reaction to that, my thought process about other writers and artists who have made work about other people (David Sedaris, Tracey Emin, Alison Bechdel), posing a final question at the end “was it worth it?” This project was important in developing the link between my written and my visual work, as it allowed me to break down my essay into the different parts, and consider what were the crucial parts for text, and what were the crucial parts for drawings.
